Folklore Definitions

Celt: One of an ancient people of Western and Central Europe.

Celtic: A subfamily of the Indo-European language family, including Welsh, Irish Gaelic and Scottish Gaelic.

Elf: A small, mischievous fairy.

Fairy: An imaginary being with magical powers.

Fairyland: The imaginary land of the fairies. A charming place.

Fairy Tale: A story about fairies. A fictitious fanciful story.

Folklore: Traditions, beliefs, practices, legends and tales of a people passed down orally.

Legend: An unverifiable popular story handed down from the past. A person or circumstance often spoken of.

Leprechaun: An elf of Irish Folklore.

Myth: A traditional story presenting supernatural beings, ancestors or heros that serve as primordial types in a primitive view of the world.

Mythology: A body of myths about the origin and history of a people.

Primordial: Being, happening, developing or existing first; primeval (of or pertaining to the first or earliest ages.)
